Draft Not Terrible -- Manifesto Part I
I don't think this was a terrible draft given where we were picking. I would have much preferred to have the 2nd pick and be resigning Sweetney to a cap-friendly deal. Another PG and a defensive small forward are about all you could hope for.
Let's keep it real. Scoring is not really the issue, even with the younger talent. Defense is going to be a key in the future. Look at the Heat -- the supporting cast was defenders, rebounders and break runners. We need all of that.
We need a manifesto. A set of principles to guide the team going forward in the next few years, here are the first 5:
1. Talent plays, not contract amount.
2. We covet defense and team offense
3. We trade for youth and for draft picks
4. We won't try to quick-fix past mistakes
5. Max deals are only for max players, and we have none.
Let's hear your additions.
